Recently on Episode 7 of Season 5 o Audibles, we chatted with former Mississippi State Athletics Director and current AD at Auburn University, John Cohen.

Cohen, although new to the AD role on The Plains, isn’t new to being an AD. He spent 15 years as athletics director at Miss State, his alma mater. Cohen also had a successful run as head baseball coach for the Diamond Dogs, as well as an All-SEC career as a player for legendary baseball coach Ron Polk.

During his time in Starkville, Cohen oversaw the success of many athletic programs and hires, including the hire of baseball coach Chris Lemonis-who guided the Bulldogs to their first ever baseball national championship in 2020, and of course the hire of the most quotable college football coach in history-the late Mike Leach.

Now at Auburn, Cohen has already made several moves, including the hire of former Ole Miss head football coach Hugh Freeze as the head coach for Auburn Tiger football, and oversaw a $30 million plus renovation campaign for Plainsmen Park, elevating Auburn Baseball even more.

In this exclusive one-on-one, we revisit what we covered in our last chat, uncover why now-the move to Auburn from his alma mater in Starkville, the state of college athletics, and of course-what did Cohen last binge watch (you know, the hard-hitting stuff 😊 )
