We are ready to unveil episode 4 of Season 3 this weekend with our next guest, John Currence. John was born and raised in New Orleans, and his endeavors took him all across the southeast, even spending time on as a tugboat cook on a boat deep in the Gulf of Mexico.

In 1992, Currence moved to Oxford and opened what is now the famed City Grocery on the historic Square. Since that time, Currence has become one of the south’s most recognized chefs and restaurateurs, creating and opening what is now a franchise of store locations in Big Bad Breakfast, the new Snackbar in Oxford, and my personal favorite where we shot this interview, BourĂ©.

Winner of six different Beard Awards among dozens of other awards and national recognition, Currence tells his story of growing up in the south, when the moment was that he knew he could be a chef and do it well, and his lessons and advice that he’s learned from his over 30 years in the business. Here is a sneak peek of what’s to come this weekend. Pass it along!
