The Oral Roberts baseball team saw its historic 2023 season come to a close Tuesday afternoon at the College World Series as they fell to TCU, 6-1, at Charles Schwab Field.

The Golden Eagles concluded the 2023 campaign with a 52-14 record and advanced to the College World Series for the second time in program history, and the first trip since 1978. The 52 wins are a program record (D1-era).

TCU jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind a bases-loaded walk in the second and a balk in the fourth. In the fifth, the Horned Frogs broke the game open with a four-run frame as their lead grew to 6-0. ORU pushed across its lone run of the day in the bottom half of the fifth as Jonah Cox plated Jacob Godman, who reached on a leadoff single.

The Golden Eagles refused to go quietly as they loaded the bases in the ninth but were unable to scratch across a run as TCU went on to win 6-1. Brooks Fowler fell to 9-2 on the season after allowing one run over three innings of work. The sophomore also struck out four on the day. In relief, Cade Denton struck out six over four scoreless innings.
