Brandon High School made a big splash Wednesday, hiring one of the youngest and brightest stars in the high school coaching ranks in Mississippi.
Sam Williams was formerly announced as new head football coach and athletic director of the Brandon Bulldogs, inheriting a program with great facilities, a cupboard of talent, and fans that are ready to bring back the glory days of Bulldog Football.
Williams comes to Brandon after one season at Ridgeland, a season where he took the Titans to their first 10-win season and first North State Title Game appearance in nearly a decade. At Pelahatchie, Williams led the Chiefs to their 1st 11-win season since the 2001 season, when the Chiefs finished 13-1 and won the state championship. Williams joined Jason Scarborough on the KDMC Guest Line to talk about the move back to his beloved Rankin County, what went into the decision to leave Ridgeland, and what the community can expect out of the program under his leadership.
